Reviving Historic Elegance
This historic dwelling in East Hampton, NY, originally part of a larger 1891 house, was relocated to a secluded site in 1976. The 2013-14 renovation added a one-story living area and shaped an outdoor terrace and lap pool and garden, blending historic charm with lifestyle amenities and modern comforts. Located in the Georgica estate area of Long Island, this home stands as a testament to Sheldon Pennoyer Architects' expertise in preserving historical features while enhancing modern livability.
Project Highlights:
- Timber Frame Construction: A new living room was constructed with a recycled fir timber frame.
- Energy Efficiency: Improved building envelope to achieve Energy Star or better rating.
- Architectural Harmony: The new addition is happily imbued with the character of the old house.
