Set in the hills of Vermont on a 500-acre retreat center, these three prototype housing units were developed as an affordable model for guest accommodation.  The buildings serve both the campus and the community, as the retreat center is home to recreational trails, meditation spaces, and event venues.  The houses were intentionally sited to preserve privacy from one another while also curating a community of spaces.  The two bedroom, two bathroom units are designed to take advantage of prefabricated systems, such as Superior Walls concrete panels and engineered roof truss systems.  The heating and cooling of the units is provided by a mini split heat pump. 

Project Highlights:

• Low Maintenance Design: Using a concrete panel wall system with cladding set on embedded strapping with an airspace, the envelopeis very resilient against the harsh New England climate.
• Connection to Nature: The center provides recreational opportunities on the 400 acres of trails for mountain biking, cross country skiing, and other outdoor activities.
